This 1992 Martin Brest drama is best remembered for giving finally giving Al Pacino his Oscar.

Even as Chris O'Donnell played the flawless Charlie Simms, Hoffman was a memorable bad guy, the spoilt George Willis.

Through his daddy-endorsed attempts at getting away with schoolboy outrageousness, Hoffman was convincing, convivial, and very real: the kind of friend we didn't quite stay away from when we should.
