This year, she's up for another Best Actress, for North Country.
Directed by Niki Caro, the woman who made the fabulous Whale Rider a couple of years ago, the film is a fictionalised account of the first major sexual harassment case in the United States.
It has garnered mixed reviews, but critics are ecstatic over the performances of Charlize and the always-excellent Frances McDormand.
Charlize plays the victim, Josey Aimes, caught between her rights as a worker and a lawsuit that drags on for years. While the film calls for histrionics, she isn't as intense as in Monster, opting for being relatable instead.
The lawsuit the film is based on was settled ten years after it was first filed. Charlize is probably hoping she doesn't have to wait that long to pick up another Oscar.
