In early 1980s, three young heroes rocked Bollywood -- Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor.

If Sunny had the backing of his father Dharmendra then Jackie had a godfather in Subhash Ghai. In contrast, Kapoor came from a very middle class family from the Mumbai suburb of Chembur.

It was a close competition between the three heroes. But by the late 1980s Kapoor was way ahead of the other two, with hits like Mr India, Tezaab and Ishwar under his belt.

Even after the three Khans -- Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh -- took the film industry by storm in the 1990s, Kapoor continued to star in hit films like Beta, Virasat, Judai and Deewana Mastana.

So, daughter Sonam has a tough act to follow.
