In Rocky, Isha plays a simple college girl who falls in love with a boy
(Zayed Khan) completely her opposite. It is about how their relationship
develops, and also about how different people shape us into who we are, good
or bad.
Considering she studied through a correspondence course in the Australian
format, I ask how she prepared for the role of a college girl. "Finally,
someone asked me that," she smiles. "I used to hang out with friends who
were in college in Kerala, and wonder how they studied for their exams. I
drew on their experiences for this role. A good actor partly draws on
experience and partly uses the imagination."
She describes co-star Zayed Khan as a perfect gentleman. "When we were
shooting in England, it was really cold. He lent me his jacket and made sure
I had enough warm clothes."
Interestingly, Isha had a three-movie contract with (Subhash Ghai's) Mukta Arts. "That's
right," she says. "First was Kisna, next comes Good Boy Bad Boy at the end
of the year. There has been no talk about the third yet." Speaking of her
break after Kisna, she says she took six months off and went home to Kerala.
"I wanted to work on aspects I thought were lacking within me. I also had a
lot of shows in India and abroad. I finally shifted to Mumbai for good, and
began shooting for films that are being released now."
