'I'd die to work with Amitabh'

August 4, 2006
It's late in the evening and I'm stuck at a studio in Byculla, waiting for actress Isha Sharvani to finish shooting an advertisement for a phone company. Dressed in white figure-hugging trousers and a pink top, she looks charming. Only, to my dismay, she is tired and in a hurry to reach the first trial of Darwaaza Bandh Rakho -- her second film after Kisna, which bombed.

I am half an hour late for my appointment, thanks to my inability to locate the studio. Eventually, we agree to conduct an interview in Sharvani's car, while she travels to her next destination. She apologises for talking while having dinner - a papaya. "This is my life," she laughs. "I had breakfast in the car, lunch on the set and dinner in the car. This happens almost every day and I'm not even a star yet. I wonder how people like Shah Rukh Khan manage."

In Darwaaza Bandh Rakho, the actress plays an arrogant, rich girl who is happy to be kidnapped. "I was intrigued by the character, and the director Chakravarthy (whom she calls Chakri) is fantastic to work with. His standards of performance are pretty high."
