So, what's new on TV?

Thodi Khushi Thode Gham

Most Indian joint families have given way to their smaller, nuclear counterparts. This is precisely what prompted noted Gujarati playwright Praveen Solanki to think of a serial highlighting the issues faced by a joint family in today's India.

The story revolves around Mansukhlal, a successful businessman who lives with his family -- wife, sister, brother-in-law, four sons, a daughter and two daughters-in-law. Expectedly, Mansukhlal credits himself and his sons for the respect and position they maintain in society, while simply ignoring the women. But things change when Sneha, the third daughter-in-law, comes to the family. Brought up in a nuclear family where she was taught to adapt to changing times, Sneha decides to take up cudgels for the women, and challenges Mansukhlal's autocratic behaviour.

TKTG has an impressive cast, led by noted Gujarati actor Arvind Rathod in the role of Mansukhlal. Deepa Parab plays Sneha. The serial also marks the comeback of Amit Jain, who shot to fame with his portrayal of Ronit in Sony's Yeh Meri Life Hai.

TKTG began this monday and airs at 9.30 pm, Monday to Thursday, on Sony Entertainment Television.
