Guiana, 1838 will release in India four months after its US release, and will likely be dubbed in Hindi. It is also being dubbed in Spanish for Latin American audiences, and in Dutch for similar descendants of indentured labour in such places as Surinam, where the Dutch shipped Indian labourers.
But most important, Jagessar hopes it will set the record straight on some of the social issues in Guyana.
"The Africans, during their emancipation period, were bargaining with the British for better wages and when the Indians came, they lost that bargaining power," Jagessar says.

"There was a lot of animosity then, and remains, when it was the system that was to blame, really."
