Animation films are finally being taken seriously in India. And this has nothing to do with the success of both Shrek films, Yash Chopra notwithstanding.

No, the only reason The Incredibles in Hindi is getting such massive press, and is being hyped as a major motion picture release instead of just another kiddy film is because it consists of the one solitary factor in Indian cinema that is as successfully consistent as the behemoth Disney/Pixar combination:

It stars Shah Rukh Khan.

Hum Hain Laajawab, to be released simultaneously with The Incredibles on December 17 in India, features the Khan as Mr Laajawab, Baldev Paar, a role originally essayed by Craig T Nelson. As our Khan admits, he's still somewhat shy of the incredible physique.

Rounding off the cast are Rakshanda Khan, Shah Rukh's seven-year-old son Aryan, Vindoo Dara Singh, Malishka Mendonsa, Asif Ali Baig, and the inimitable Jaaved Jafferi as bad guy Sankiman. Jaaved has also written the Hindi script.
