I have never done a Dharma Productions film for any other reason but Yash Johar. Be it Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham or Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Karan's first film. I hope when my career ends, I do my last film with Yash Johar." These were Shah Rukh’s words at the music release function of Kal Ho Naa Ho.

Set in New York, Kal Ho Naa Ho was another cinematic achievement for Yash Johar. The film, which celebrates life, won several awards.

In any film industry, the producer isn’t exactly a favourite person. But Yash Johar, with his gentle disposition, won the hearts of everyone who worked with him or otherwise came in contact with him. A generous producer who never settled for anything but the best. Be it Saif Ali Khan or Nikhil Advani who began his career as a filmmaker under his guidance, they all dub him the best producer ever.

Johar’s spirits were still strong, but his health wasn’t. Yash Johar, however, will not be forgotten.
