Rimi Sen was to debut in Baghban. But her other film, Priyadarsan's Hungama released first. That film, co-starring Akshaye Khanna and Aftab Shivdasani, fared well at the box office.

But Baghban marks the Hindi film debut of Arzoo, sister of model-actress Aditi Gowitrikar (Dhund, Baaz: A Bird In Danger).

Paresh Rawal, who had one of the main roles in Hungama, will be seen in Baghban too. The actor has been credited for the success of quite a few films like Hera Pheri, Awaara Pagal Deewana and even Hungama.

Most of the other cast members come from the television world, like Aman Varma, Divya Dutta, Sameer Soni and son of late Johnny Walker, Nasir Khan.
