After a brief hiatus from the silver screen, Hema returned to co-star opposite an old colleague -- Amitabh Bachchan -- in Ravi Chopra's hit Baghban. She was approached by filmmaker Yash Chopra for his next movie with Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta.

The accomplished dancer and successful cine star was awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan in 1999.

Recently, she was nominated by the central government to the Rajya Sabha.

At 55, the dream called Hema lives on.
