Is the film anti-British?

It is not anti-British. We are looking at what happened 150 years ago. People thought differently at the time. The issues and conflicts were different then.

In fact, Mangal [a Brahmin] ill-treats an 'Untouchable' called Nain Sukhram. Towards the end of the film, he realises his mistake. He realises he is not treating a fellow Indian equally, even while fighting against the British rule. You have to face outsiders as equals.
