A R Rahman joined Sukhwindara Singh to sing the Sona sona, mera sona number from Bombay Dreams. The song is used in a crucial wedding sequence in the West End show.

One of the evening's highlights was the robust energy Shankar Mahadevan brought to his rendition of Ghanan ghanan from Lagaan. With the added flourishes at the end -- with the sonorous repetition of the word ghanan -- he held the audiences in thrall for over six minutes.

Another huge hit was the Hamma hamma number from Bombay.
