Earlier, Tabu had been roped in to play the character who helps poor, suppressed women fight for their rights. Tabu, eventually, was unable to do the role and Raveena stepped in.

Divya Dutta's performance in this film is drawing a lot of praise, especially in a love-making scene which was passed by the Censor Board.
