It is ironic that Gracy Singh has played two doctors in the movies.
In real life, she is so scared of them that she just waits to recover on her own than meet a doctor.
But she admits her role as a doctor in Armaan helped her play Dr Suman in her new film, Munnabhai MBBS, co-starring Sanjay Dutt.
Gracy signed for the role without hearing the story. "This is the first time I have signed a film without listening to the script," she smiles. She was played the song Chan chan during the narration. Gracy says she loved the song so much, she instantly agreed to do the film. "I said, 'Just give me this audio cassette and I'll take the script later.' The song was my biggest inspiration to do [the role]."
Working with filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the producer of Munnabhai MBBS, was also a draw for the soft-spoken actress. She knew, despite no narration, that she could trust him because "he always does justice to all his characters."
Gracy plays a medical student and a childhood friend of Munnabhai essayed by Dutt. The actress is all praise for her co-star. "He doesn't need another take, she says "If it is a technical point, he will do something again, otherwise he is always perfect in one take."

Working with established actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor in Armaan, Aamir Khan in Lagaan and Ajay Devgan in Gangaajal has been a learning experience for the actress. "They are very good at their jobs. The way they get involved with their characters. The way they perform. It is good to learn and observe."
A self-confessed fan of Hrithik Roshan, Gracy dreams of working with the Koi...Mil Gaya hero. "I love him in all his films. I have seen all his films in theatre," she says.
Gracy doesn't mind the tag of being called the Lagaan girl. It was the Oscar-nominated drama that helped her break into the industry. "I am very proud of the film." While she enjoys her 'good girl' image, Gracy is not opposed to trying out other characters. "As an actor, I would love to do a variety of roles," she says. Her biggest challenge as an actor so far was playing Anuradha in her last film Gangaajal, a role she found both difficult and mature.
She would love to return to her roots in television if a possibility arises. "Right from the beginning, television has been my favourite, " she says. But she acknowledges that it is not practical do to both films and television at the same time.
Three films old, Gracy still feels like a newcomer. "No matter what happens, I should feel like a newcomer all the time. I have yet to start my career."
