Raja Hindustani (1996)

Dharmesh Darshan’s Raja Hindustani established Karisma’s image as an actress. Her subdued Aarti was in complete contrast to costar Aamir Khan’s gregarious character Raja.

Not only did her performance show amazing restraint, her straight hair and pastel churidar, demure look worked wonders too.

The film was a huge success and so was she. She won her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress for this film.
