"I have learnt more about women's issues after Lajja."

Lajja was offered to Manisha at a time when her career was totally down in the dumps. Interestingly, it is she and not the more commercially viable Madhuri Dixit, in the central role.

The Ghai protégées, Koirala and Dixit who, apparently, had a misunderstanding earlier, became quite close whilst the making of this film.

Manisha, who considers Madhuri "extremely beautiful and an amazing dancer" had a blast working with her.
