  Shah Rukh Khan and Hrishitaa Bhatt While waging a war against one of the smaller kingdoms, Ashoka wounds himself greviously.

That's when his Buddhist wife Devi (Hrishitaa Bhatt) comes in the picture.

Gentle and benevolent, Devi nurses her beloved back to health. Ashoka owes her his life when she saves him from Susima's assault.

Devi tries to instill the teachings of Buddhism in her fierce and evil husband. But her efforts are in vain.
