Buildings that will change India's skyline

Some world-class buildings are coming up all over India that are expected to change the country’s skyline. These swanky buildings offer world-class amenities to the occupants ranging from five-star spa to concierge and butler services.

These are also some of the tallest upcoming buildings. Some of them are under-construction while some exist only on papers as of now.

India Tower

City: Mumbai

Planned Height: 2,362 ft

Floors: 125

Status: On-hold

DB Realty was constructing the tower that would be the tallest building in India and also among the tallest in the world.

Work had begun on the project but in 2011 the municipal corporation of Mumbai issued a stop notice and demanded a premium of Rs 200 crore from the developer. Since then, the future of the project is uncertain.

Lanco Hills Signature Tower

City: Hyderabad

Height: 2,067 ft

Floors: 114

Status: Project approved

The tower is constructed by the company called as Lanco Hills. The company is constructing a mixed-used development project by the same name - Lanco hills - and the Signature Tower will be part of it.

According to the company’s website Lanco Hills is one of the world’s largest single-phase development projects and would cost $1.5 billion.

World One

City: Mumbai

Height: 1,450 ft

Floors: 117

Status: Under-construction

The project is constructed by Lodha Group. The project, designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and Leslie E. Robertson Associates, the project has won many awards globally.

One of the landmark features of this iconic development with be an exclusive observatory called '1000' – located at a height of 1000 feet above the city.

According to the company’s press release, this open - to - air observatory will allow residents to enjoy fabulous views of the city and the Arabian Sea - it is estimated that a person can see as far away as 60 kms from the building from this height.

GIFT Diamond Tower

City: Gandhinagar

Height: 1,345 ft

Floors: 86

Status: Approved

The building will be part of the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The complex is expected to be completed by 2017.

The Imperial 3

City: Mumbai

Height: 1,312 ft

Floors: 116

Status: Approved

After constructing the twin Imperial Tower, SD Corporation is going for the third.

Construction will start from 2014 and the towers will inaugurated in 2017. Imperial Tower 3, designed by the Chicago based architect firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture.

SD Corporation is a confluence of resources, reputation and expertise of two real estate developers, Shapoorji Pallonji Group and Dilip Thacker Group.

Shreepati Garden Tower

City: Mumbai

Height: 1,312 ft

Floors: 110

Status: Approved

The project is constructed by Shreepati Group. It is a mixed-use project. Some of the facilities include business centre, mini theatre, gymnasium, Olympic size swimming pool with a baby pool, and Vaastu and Aura conformed homes.

Wave City Center Iconic Tower

City: Delhi

Height: 1,312 ft

Status: Approved

The project is part of Wave City Center, which is being developed by the Wave Infratech.

Celestia Spaces

City: Mumbai

Status: Proposed

Bhattad Group is the owner of a 19-acre piece of land in Parel-Sewree area where these towers would come up. The project is in alliance with ILFS.

The proposed Towers consist of above 70 floors in Crescent I & Crescent two with podium consisting of Celestia Commercial Centre in the five floor levels & seven upper floors of car parking.

Oasis Tower 1

City: Mumbai

Height: 1,220 ft

Status: Under-construction

Oasis Tower is a mixed-use luxury tower that will house a hotel, office and retail space. It has been designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, USA.

The project will be developed under Oasis Realty, a joint venture between Sahana and Oberoi Realty.

Gateway Towers 1 & 2

City: Gandhinagar

Height: 1,188 ft

Floors: 70

Status: Approved

These two towers are part of the Gujarat International Finance Tech-City (GIFT) coming up in Gujarat. According GIFT’s website, these are the tallest gate buildings in the world and they are inspired by the India Gate.

Orchid Turf View

City: Mumbai

Status: Under-construction

A project by DB Realty at Mahalaxmi, these tpwers offer 10,000 sq ft of living space to each resident.

It features private elevators, private pool, concierge and butler service, and expansive landscape gardens.

Orchid Heights

City: Mumbai

Height: 1,076 ft

Floors: 80

Status: On-hold

Another skyscraper at Mahalaxmi by DB Realty, Orchid Heights is spread on 4 acres of land. It features podium garden, 5 star spa and meditation centre, 14 feet high ceilings, designer bathrooms, and global concierge and business centre.

Palais Royale

City: Mumbai

Height: 1,050 ft

Floors: 75

Status: Under-construction

Designed by India’s leading architects, Talati & Panthaky Associates, the building is coming up Lower Parel. The project is owned by Shree Ram Urban Infrastructure Ltd.

It is the first supertall in India to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum rating for environmental sustainability.

Namaste Tower

City: Mumbai

The design resembles the Namaste gesture: two wings of the hotel are clasped together like hands greeting.

It will be a mixed use skyscraper that will house a 380-room W Hotel, office and retail space. It has been designed by Atkins, Dubai.

Lokhandwala Minerva

City: Mumbai

Status: Under-construction

Developed by Lokhandwala Infrastructure, the project is located at Mahalaxmi. It offers lavish 3-BHK & 5-BHK apartments and luxurious 41/2-BHK and 6-BHK duplexes.

It features amenities such as concierge and butler services, clubhouse with spa and salon, temperature controlled swimming pool with separate kid's pool, yoga and meditation room, squash courts, and golf simulator.

Shreepati Skies

Located at Tardeo, Shreepati Group is constructing the project. The eco-friendly building features private swimming pool in every duplex apartment and penthouse, an astronomy club to watch the movement of the stars in outer space, a club house with a gymnasium, cardio and spa, and decks that open in to Mumbai Skies.

Developed by HBS Realtors, Sky link Tower is located at Worli. The design of the building has been made by the Seattle-based architect firm Callison.

Century IT Park

The project is located at Century Mills, Worli. Century Mill land belongs to a Kumar Mangalam Birla group company. The project is developed by Shapoorji Pallonji and will have two towers of 300 metre and 55 metres height.

Supernova Spira

The skyscraper, developed by Supertech Group, is located at Noida. Part of a bigger project called Supertech Supernova, this building is a mixed-use project.
