Nokia on Thursday launched a touchscreen device -- N97 -- in the Indian market under its multimedia phone series, which will be priced at approximately Rs 35,000.
The multimedia device by the company would be available nationwide within two weeks.
"Though the price for the Indian market has not been decided, but it will certainly be around Rs 35,000. About the Ovi store, We are in talks with the mobile operators for the billing service," Nokia India Director-Marketing Vineet Taneja told reporters.
Targeted at users of converged devices, N97 would be the company's first phone to come preloaded with Nokia's Ovi store.
Ovi is Nokia's take on Apple and Blackberry's app stores. Described as a one-stop shop for all things that a smart phone user might need, Ovi comes with a full catalog of applications, games, videos, pod casts, productivity tools, web and location-based services.
Ovi Store has paid and free content from a range of global and local content providers and developers, including Face book, Paramount Pictures and Twitter applications.
In India, the Ovi Store on the N97 would offer a choice of 50 free to download items developed specifically for Indian consumers, by Indian developers.
The Nokia N97 supports up to 48 GB of storage, including 32 GB of on-board memory, expandable with a 16 GB microSD card for music, media and more. (PTI)
