Moon mission man wows fellow IIT-ians!

March 19, 2009

Has the recession had any effect?

"(Laughs) Yes. Now everybody wants to join the ISRO. I don't know if it is the revised salaries for the government scientists or the moon mission. But a lot of people are now applying."

"That's a good thing, considering pure science and research were never considered attractive career options."

"See, there should always be application for any good thing. Merely publishing papers may be a good thing academically, but finally there has to be something quantifiable. When people see that there is a direct use to science, there is more belief."
