Layoffs might be the buzz word in the information technology industry these days, but software major Infosys Technologies exceeded its own hiring target and confidently proclaimed that it would honour all 20,000 campus offers made for 2009-10.
At the beginning of the 2008-09 financial year, the Bangalore-headquartered and the Nasdaq-listed firm said it would hire about 25,000 people while the CEO S Gopalakrishan and HRD and Education & Research Head, T V Mohandas Pai, were hopeful that this figure would go up to 27,000.
Pai said, "For the next year (2009-10), we made 20,000 (campus) offers. We will honour all the offers."
During the October-December quarter, Infosys and its subsidiaries added 5,997 employees on a gross basis. "We have seen a decline in attrition this quarter," Pai said.
