Who can impose the fine?
As per the new order, in case anyone is caught smoking inside one's office premises, the employer could also be fined. As per section 4 of the Act and Rule 2(e), restaurants can house smokers in enclosed and ventilated rooms, but not serve their clients there. Though high-end hotels might well afford such facilities, many bars and cafes might be hit severely.
Incidentally, many real estate firms that have rented out office space to corporate houses have themselves sent out circulars to such companies, requesting them to direct all employees accordingly.
Beware of these people:
All gazetted officers
Head of institution/HR/Admin head
Post master
Pricipal, teacher of schools and colleges
Airport managers and AAI officers, also officers of all airlines
Admin head of central and state offices
Inspectors of central excise, income tax, sales tax, health, Customs and transport
Station master and assistant station master
Librarian, assistant librarian, and in their absence, whoever is in charge of the library
Director public health
Nodal officers of anti-tobacco cells
Director, medical superintendent and hospital administrator
