ANOUSHKA SHANKAR
Named after Russian film actress Anoushka Shankar sat down with a sitar, custom-made to accommodate a child's hands, when she was only eight.
Her 1998 solo debut, established the younger Shankar as something of a prodigy.
Awards:
Was presented House of Commons Shield.
The Indian Television Academy, Asmi, and India Times chose her as one of four Women of the Year in India in 2003.
In 2004 she was chosen as one of twenty Asian Heroes by the Asia edition of Time magazine.
Same year, Anoushka earned a best supporting actress nomination from India's National Film Awards for her debut role in Dance Like a Man
Performance
In February 2000, Shankar became the first woman to perform at The Ramakrishna Centre in Kolkata.
In 2002, Anoushka played sitar at the Concert for George, a memorial to George Harrison on the first anniversary of his death at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

She released of her book Bapi: The Love of my Life
Anourag was released in 2000
2005 she released her fourth, Rise (it was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Contemporary World Music category. This was Shankar's second Grammy nomination).
In 2007, Anoushka, in collaboration with Karsh Kale, released Breathing Under Water

Anoushka is the daughter of sitar player Ravi Shankar and Sukanya Shankar. Through her father, she is the half-sister of Grammy Award winner Norah Jones.
Anoushka was born in London, but now lives in Encinitas, California, USA where she gave several charity performances as a teenager and graduated from the local public high school.
