Slow but steady

To carry the bicycling metaphor further, a child cannot be expected to balance himself on the money wheel from day one.

The training needs to be persistent, subtle and strategic. But the good news is this education does not call for large sums of money.

Pocket money, cash gifts and earnings are all fodder for the young financial brain, as long as the parent escorts him through the various stages to independent investment decisions. (See Pathway to Investing).
