The Port of Shanghai, located in the vicinity of Shanghai, comprises a deep-sea port and a river port.
In 2006, with a total of 537 million tonnes of cargo transported, it became the world's busiest port by cargo tonnage for the first time.
The Port of Shanghai is situated at the middle of the 18,000km-long Chinese coastline and is an important gateway for foreign trade. The Port enjoys a good geographical location, modern infrastructure and facilities.
