The magic of brand 'Lalu'

February 25, 2008
The Lalu fancy has caught the imagination of the people across the country. Brand 'Lalu' has done wonders, companies which experimented with 'Lalu' products have done good business.

Perhaps, no other leader in India has products like dolls, hair cuts, chocolates, cosmetics, animal fodder and even tobacco promoted in his name. Even his trip to Pakistan generated much mirth and curiosity amongst the Pakistanis, and he regaled them too.

A cosmetic pack called 'Lalu Chale Sasural,' a chocolate called 'Lalu ka Khazana' tasted success with the lalu tag.

A company in Bihar became very famous after selling cattle fodder under the brand name 'Lalu Pashu Aahar.' In fact, there was huge demand for this product!

Lalu has also been the subject of many books. He has also played a cameo role in the Hindi film, Padamshree Laloo Prasad Yadav.

A chapter on Lalu Prasad was recently removed from school textbooks as the current Bihar government -- under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar -- felt that the former chief minister's biography will have a bad impact on children due to his alleged involvement in scams.
