Network 18 Media & Investments Ltd

Includes: Television18 India Ltd; Setpro; Network18 Holding Limited, IBN18 Broadcast Limited, Web18, Studio18, E18, Capital 18

What it does: Network18 has interests in television, print, Internet, filmed entertainment, mobile content and allied businesses. Through its holdings in Television Eighteen India Ltd (market cap Rs 2,864.42 crore or Rs 28.64 billion), it operates business news channels CNBC--TV18 and CNBC Awaaz.

Through its holdings in ibn18 Broadcast Ltd (market cap Rs 1,346.02 crore Rs 13.46 billion), it offers general news channels like CNN--IBN, IBN7 and IBN Lokmat, a Marathi news channel in partnership with the Lokmat group. It also operates a joint venture with Viacom, called Viacom18, which houses the MTV, VH1 and Nickelodeon channels. Studio18, meanwhile, has launched the Hindi general entertainment channel Colours.

Network18 has a varied bouquet of 23 Web sites including moneycontrol.com, yatra.com, compareindia.com and newswire18.com; it also holds the group's online & on--air home shopping venture, Homeshop18, and its full spectrum events management venture, E18.

Did you know? Colours recently aired the reality show Fear Factor, hosted by popular actor Akshay Kumar.

It is now airing Bigg Boss 2, hosted by actor Shilpa Shetty. The show which launched earlier this week was in the news for its controversial list of contestants and because contestant Jane Goody, who subjected Shetty to racial comments during her sojourn in Big Brother, had to leave after being diagnosed with cancer.

In the news: CNBC's India's popular business programme, India Business Exchange, will air on CNBC's Worldwide Exchange. TV18 has recently expanded into print with the acquisition of Infomedia (B2B publishing and printing).

It is collaborating with Forbes to launch a business magazine in India. It is also in the process of launching a Hindi business daily jointly with Jagran Prakashan.
