Singur farmers don't want Tatas to leave

August 23, 2008

While the future of the Tata project in West Bengal remains uncertain, at least three states, Maharashtra, Punjab and Orissa said that they would roll out the red carpet for Ratan Tata and his nano project in their states.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh while inviting Tata to set up his plant in the state, said he will be given land and all other necessary facilities.

The Singur plant, which has already seen an investment of Rs 1,500 crore (Rs 15 billion), will manufacture the world's cheapest car.
