How Nobel laureate Yunus helped defeat poverty
"No other individual could bring all Bangladeshis together under one roof and on one single issue," a financial analyst, Rabbee, told rediff.com after the felicitation of Dr Muhammad Yunus, organised by 11 Bangladeshi-American organisations.
"He has improved the lives of poor people. He particularly empowered women, who far outnumber men, as the beneficiaries of his moment," said Zafrin Rahman. "I think 95 per cent of those who received help through his bank are women (in Bangladesh)," she said.
