Oracle to hire 1,400 more in India

Global enterprise software company Oracle on Tuesday said it would increase its headcount in India to 10,000 in the next eight months, while expanding into nine non-metro cities.

The current headcount in India is 8,600 people across six cities, which would be increased to 10,000 in next eight months, company president Charles Phillips said in Mumbai.

Oracle was also scheduled to increase its presence in nine non-metro cities including Ahemdabad, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, Pune and Vishakhapatnam, he added.

The company also plans to increase partner network across all 15 cities and industry segments, especially within the SME market, to enhance its reach in India.

Oracle currently has 275 partners in India with the last 75 coming in 2005. To support company initiatives, it has invested close to $2 billion in last five years.
