The Mandal Commission formula of 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes in Central educational institutions and the IIMs and IITs is under the government's active consideration.

Although no decision has been taken on it yet, if the proposal is implemented is will take the overall reservation in central government-funded higher education institutions from the current 22.5% (for SC and ST students) to 49.5%.

The decision on this issue will be announced after the assembly polls in the five states.

Do you think IITs and IIMs should have 49.5% reservation? Will this help the backward classes prosper? Or will this lead to more controversy?
