Sensex surges 70 points at close

The Sensex surged 70 points to close at 5,651. The Nifty was up 24 points at 1,781.
Infosys rallied 2.4% (Rs 43) to Rs 1,863. Satyam soared 4.6% (Rs 16) to Rs 370. Wipro gained Rs 5 at Rs 639.
Reliance surged 2.9% (Rs 15) to Rs 552. While ITC was up Rs 10 at Rs 1,089, HLL was down a rupee at Rs 122.50.
SBI advanced 2.9% (Rs 13) to Rs 452. ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank added Rs 2 each to Rs 287 and Rs 411, respectively.
HDFC plunged 2.2% (Rs 14) to Rs 640.
ONGC and HPCL gained over a per cent each at Rs 800 and Rs 311, respectively.
Larsen & Toubro slumped 3.2% (Rs 27) to Rs 804. Bhel ended Rs 2 lower at Rs 641.
Hindalco and Tisco surged 3.6% each to Rs 1,256 and Rs 289, respectively.
Cipla and Dr.Reddy's shed a per cent each to Rs 267 and Rs 735, respectively. Ranbaxy was down Rs 2 at Rs 1,067.
Tata Motors zoomed 2.9% (Rs 11) to Rs 403. While Hero Honda raced over 2% (Rs 9) to Rs 425, Bajaj Auto gained 1.4% (Rs 13) at Rs 942. Maruti, however, ended a rupee lower at Rs 348.
Gujarat Ambuja crumbled 2.5% (Rs 8) to Rs 336, and ACC was down a per cent (Rs 3) to Rs 252. However, Grasim spurted a per cent (Rs 12) to Rs 1,107.
While Reliance Energy rallied 2.2% (Rs 14) to Rs 630, Tata Power lost Rs 3 to Rs 298.
Bharti Tele zoomed nearly 3% (Rs 4) to Rs 155. Zee moved up 1.7% (Rs 2.50) to Rs 154.
