New Chevrolet Forester @ Rs 13 lakh

Chevrolet Forester. Photo: GMIGeneral Motors India on Monday launched a variant of its sports utility vehicle 'Chevrolet Forester' to tap the growing SUV market in India.

The 'Forester MY 2005' has been priced at Rs 12.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), GMI President and Managing Director Aditya Vij said in a statement.

The SUV will be imported from Fuji Heavy Industries of Japan as completly built unit and marketed under the 'Chevrolet' brand.

Fuji Heavy Industries, which manufactures 'Subaru' cars, is an alliance partner of General Motors Corp of the United States, the parent firm of GM.

GMI had launched 'Chevrolet Forester' in February 2003.

The Indian arm of the world's biggest carmaker manufactures 'Opel Corsa', 'Corsa Sail and 'Swing' at its Halol (Gujarat) factory and imports luxury sedan 'Opel Vectra' and 'Chevrolet Forester'.

The vehicle comes fitted with retractable cargo security cover and fog lamps.
