RBI to issue new Rs 100 notes soon

May 08, 2004 16:38 IST

The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs 100 denomination bank notes with inset letter 'F' and Rs 20 denomination notes without inset letter in numbering panel in the Mahatma Gandhi series.

The notes will bear the signature of RBI Governor Y V Reddy.

Except for the governor's signature and the change in inset letter for Rs 100 note, the design of notes would be similar to those already issued in the Gandhi series, an RBI release said in Mumbai on Saturday.
