Govt nods RIL, US firm tie-up

Centre has approved 26 cases of foreign technology collaboration and granted industrial licences to 25 cases.
Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath approved the proposals on the recommendation of the Project Approval Board and Licensing Committee, an official release said in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The proposals include tie ups of Reliance Industries with Dow Global Technologies, USA, for manufacture of polymers of propylene and with Bechtel France SAS, UK, for paraxylene. Two proposals of Kalyani Brakes with Bosch Automotive Systems Corp of Japan and Robert Bosch of Germany were also okayed.
Tie-ups of Hotel Excelsior with Shangri La International Hotel Management for building a five star deluxe hotel and of Jindal Stainless Steel with Nisshin Steel of Japan for manufacture of stainless steel were also given the nod.
The main sectors for which industrial licences were granted include defence, textiles and chemicals. Two proposals of B F Utilities for making Armoured Personnel Carrier and arm and ammunition were approved.
Biocon's proposal for manufacture of insulin and salt mono component insulin were also given the go ahead, the release said.
