India's largest motorcycle maker, Hero Honda Motors on Wednesday said sales rose 15 per cent in November 2004.

A total of 2,35,836 units were sold in the review month over 2,04,533 motorcycles in November 2003, a company statement said.

The cumulative sales of the company have grown by 29 per cent to 17,05,230 units in April-November 2004 from 13,17,248 units in the corresponding period in 2003.

Bajaj grows 42% in Nov

Bajaj Auto has posted a 47.2 per cent jump in sales of two-wheelers at 1,66,626 units for November compared to 1,13,164 units in the same period last year. Motorcycle sales rose by record 68.9 per cent at 1,54,137 in November as against 91,257 units in the same month last fiscal, the company said on Wednesday.

Sales of three-wheelers declined by 25.8 per cent at 15,734 units in the reporting month as against 21,199 units in November last year, it said.

The total two and three wheeler vehicle sales were up by 35.7 per cent at 1,82,360 (1,34,363 units).

The company reported a flat growth in exports at 15,519 in November 2004 as against 15,424 units in same period last year, the company said.

Although overall volumes have been at a record high in November 2004, primary sales (Bajaj to dealers) could not match secondary sales (dealers to customers) of about two lakh vehicles.

This was particularly so in specific segments including Bajaj Pulsar, Bajaj 3-wheelers and exports largely due to production and distribution constraints. Consequently, the waiting period for three Bajaj motorcycles -- the CT100, the Discover and the Pulsar-DTSi has further increased.
