Oprah Winfrey, 49, talk show host and entertainer, is the tenth most powerful businesswoman.

She got into broadcasting at 17. A graduate from the Tennessee State University, she has her own production company, Harpo Productions, Inc.

Oprah is the first African-American woman to become a billionaire.

Abigail Johnson, 41, President, Fidelity Management and Research Company, is the 9th most powerful businesswoman.

FMR Co is America's largest mutual funds group, with more than $900 billion in assets under management. Abigail's grandfather, Edward C Johnson II, founded FMR Co in 1946, and her father, Edward C Johnson III, 72, has been Fidelity's chairman and chief executive since 1977.

She is the largest stockholder in the company. Her personal wealth is estimated at $9 billion, making her one of the wealthiest persons on earth.
