Ranbaxy gets US nod for Ofloxacin

Indian drug major Ranbaxy Laboratories has got the US Food and Drug Administration nod for the manufacture and sale of Ofloxacin tablets.

According to a release issued to the BSE on Wednesday, the USFDA has determined Ranbaxy's ofloxacin tablets to be the bio-equivalent and therefore therapeutically equivalent to the listed drug (Floxin tablets of Ortho McNeil Pharmaceutical Inc).

Ofloxacin will be launched in the US this month, and will made available through wholesalers and other distribution outlets, the release added.

The stock is moving in a narrow range today, and was up a per cent (Rs 14) at Rs 1,037 on the BSE at 1230 hrs.
