RBI issues new notes with Reddy's signature

October 16, 2003 14:02 IST

The Reserve Bank of India on Thursday issued the first series of bank notes bearing the signature of governor Y V Reddy in the denomination of Rs 5 and Rs 10.

Except for the signature of the governor and the inset letter in the notes of Rs 10 denomination, the new notes would have the same design and security features in the Mahatma Gandhi series, RBI said in a release in Mumbai.

All bank notes in these two denominations issued earlier would continue to be legal tenders, the release added.
