MTNL's new tariffs for Net users

State-owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd on Tuesday announced two tariff schemes for Internet users in the households under which a new telephone connection would be provided to be used only for accessing Internet and for incoming calls.

In one of the schemes, MTNL has fixed monthly rental of Rs 500 and the customer would be paying Internet charges to the concerned Internet service provider.

Under the second option, monthly rental and usage charges have been fixed at Rs 700 a month and in this scheme access would be only to MTNL ISP on 24880000 with unlimited usage, a statement said.

Security deposit of Rs 3,000 would be recovered in equal instalments of Rs 1,000 each in the bi-monthly bills.

The facility would not be available for Internet kiosks or Internet dhabas, it said adding that the above mentioned scheme would be effective for three months starting November 24.
