INDIA'S TOP 9 INFOTECH VENDORS: Tata Consultancy Services is India's foremost offshore service provider, followed by Infosys Technologies, Wipro Technologies and Cognizant Technologies, according to a Gartner rating system. All four have a 'positive' rating.

The others in the first list of the Top 9 Indian global service vendors are Satyam Computer Services, HCL Technologies, Patni Computer Systems, Covansys Corporation and Syntel, all with a 'promising' rating.

The comprehensive rating grid assesses the firms in five evaluation levels across 14 parameters.

The Gartner Offshore Vendor Ratings provide clear, concise indicators of each vendor's overall status and the status of such initiatives as strategy, organization, product(s), technology, marketing, financials and support.

Gartner will review the list every six months.
