RBI appoints Shyamala Gopinath as executive director

The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Shyamala Gopinath as executive director, effective Friday.

Shyamala, who took charge, would look after the department of banking operations and development, department of banking supervision and financial institutions division, RBI said in a release.

This portfolio was earlier handled by K L Khetarpaul, who had resigned on June 10.

Prior to her appointment as ED, she was on two years deputation with the International Monetary Fund, the release added.
