India, China sign MoU on power

The Power Grid Corporation of India and the State Grid Corporation of China have signed a three-year memorandum of understanding to share experiences in transmission and telecommunications.

"The MoU does not cover power generation or distribution area. It envisages sharing of experiences in the field of transmission system and telecommunications," Power Minister Anant Geete said in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

He said the MoU has become effective from July 9 this year.

In reply to another query, he said there are 44 power generation projects in the private sector.
