Telco Oct vehicle sales up 34.6%

India's top truck maker, Tata Engineering and Locomotive Co Ltd, said on Monday its total vehicle sales in October rose 34.6 per cent from a year earlier to 18,837 units.

The new Telco pick-up truck. Reuters/Sucheta DasThe company, which also makes utility vehicles and cars, said in a statement it sold 9,914 trucks and buses during the month, 42 per cent more than a year earlier and 11 per cent more than in September.

Telco said sales of its sole passenger car, the Indica model, in the domestic market rose 35 per cent to 7,192 units, while its utility vehicle sales rose five per cent to 1,731 units.

Telco's shares ended down 0.35 per cent at 143.55 rupees at the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the Sensex finished down 0.30 per cent.
