China to attend IITF 2002 in full force

Tapping into the India-China trade market, China's participation with 130 companies will be the largest ever at the two-week India International Trade Fair (IITF 2002) beginning at Pragati Maidan from November 14.

At the mega-fair, 130 top Chinese businesses, as against five companies in the past, will have 164 stands to display more than 200 products ranging from consumer electronics, automobiles, machinery and equipment, motorcycles, precision instruments, textile and garments and consumer goods industries.

Chinese will be participating from all sectors of the industries giving open competition to the Indian participants on their own soil.

"This time 130 Chinese companies will display the best of their products covering all segments of the industry compared to five companies in the previous fairs. Indian companies will also be displaying almost similar products giving the consumer a clear choice to evaluate the products and buy," Ranjan Chatterjee, Executive Director, Indian Trade Promotion Organisation, said.

Chatterjee said the fair's focus would be on 'service exports and tourism' and the mega-event has added significance as ITPO, organisers of the largest-ever event in Asia, is celebrating its silver jubilee this year.

For the silver jubilee projections, a commemorative stand of ITPO depicting growth and progress in the service to trade and industry over the past 25 years will be defined through photographs, slides, audio-visuals, including interactive CDs.

More than 7,000 companies from India and overseas are exhibiting at the 22nd IITF 2002.
