India's information technology and communications minister, Pramod Mahajan was there for the launch that was to be done by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee through a video conferencing from Delhi.

It was an impressive guest list that turned up at Knowledge City. HDFC chairman, Deepak Parekh; ICICI chairman, K V Kamath; actor-turned-minster, Vinod Khanna; former journalist and now Rajya Sabha Member, Rajiv Shukla; politicians Murli Deora and Praful Patel and industrialists, Anand Mahindra and Ajay Piramal.

A notable absentee though was Anil Ambani, vice-chairman of Reliance and his wife, Tina Ambani.
