Citibank picks Unimobile to provide mobile banking services

Fakir Chand in Bangalore

Citibank, the premier global banking services company, has selected Unimoble Inc, the Bangalore-based leading provider of global wireless data solutions for the enterprise, to deploy its advanced wireless messaging platform to offer 'CitiAlert' mobile banking services to its non-resident Indian customers the world over.

The high-end mobile service will be a part of the bank's multi-phase deployment that will extend across 300 networks in 74 countries worldwide.

Using Unimobile's mobile messaging platform and Unimobile intelligent network, the CitiAlert solution will enable automatic delivery of user-specified transaction alerts and confirmations to customers' mobile devices while ensuring that data remains secure.

"With Unimobile's wireless banking solution, Citibank will now offer its customers real-time mobile alerts and confirmations. Customers can choose to receive a variety of alerts, including account balances and status of checks issued to and from their account, among others," according to Citibank India's global head for NRI business.

Being fully customisable, customers can choose the specific alerts they wish to receive as well as the device they wish to receive them on.

Customers will also be able to set preferences for the times at which they wish and do not wish to receive alerts, making the CitiAlert service a truly personalised solution.

The MMP's intelligent alert engine offers additional capabilities for 'actionable' alerts, 'query-based' alerts, and 2-way messaging.

For instance, users could respond to a credit card payment due alert, and instruct that payment be made directly from their bank account.

"The MMP also offers message tracking and message delivery confirmation modules, which allow administrators to track the message path, message status, and delivery details," Mehra stated.

Advanced monitoring tools allow administrators to generate reports on specific services opted for and messages delivered to each user, to facilitate analysis of each service offering.

"Security being a critical requirement for banking services, the MMP offers enterprise class end-to-end security, encryption and SSL with third-party electronic certificates for authentication," Mehra added.

"Unimobile's messaging platform offered us a centrally hosted 24x7 global network, as well as access to multiple carriers. This will help us to offer real-time, personalised mobile services to our vast worldwide customer base."

According to Unimobile CEO Vas Bhandarkar, corporations that want to reach their customers with time-critical information on a customer's preferred mobile device are often faced with bewildering complexity surrounding which devices, which carriers, and what applications they can support.

Unimobile's solutions have been validated across over 400 carriers globally with over 1 million users in 130 countries, and are backed by Unimobile's world-class 24x7 customer support and network operations center.
