Joharis remanded to CBI custody

Two directors of Lucknow-based Century Consultants, who allegedly duped investors to the tune of millions of rupees, were on Friday remanded to CBI custody for ten days by a court.

Arvind Johari and Anand Johari, both brothers, were arrested from Kalimpong in West Bengal's Darjeeling district on May 22.

Granting CBI's request for a remand of ten days, special judicial magistrate (CBI) Jagadish said that investigations were still on in the case as the prosecuting agency was yet to get access to many relevant documents.

Moreover, the accused, in their statements to the CBI, had admitted they had used investors' money to jack up share prices of Century's sister concern Cyberspace.

Special public prosecutor A K Srivastava argued that the accused owned about 12 sister concerns of Century Consultants and the agency was yet to clearly ascertain their modus operandi.
