NIIT plans to double overseas centers

Indian computer education and software services firm NIIT Ltd plans to double its overseas education centres to 200 in the next six months, a company spokesman said on Thursday.

NIIT, India's largest computer education firm, has 2,228 centres including over 100 abroad. It also provides software services to clients such as Microsoft, British Airways and Japan's Toshiba group.

"Our plan is to double the current number of overseas (education) centres in the next six months," NIIT's spokesman said on phone.

The New Delhi-based company's overseas education centres are spread over 27 countries, and provide training to children, and teenagers and professional courses for adults.

Shares of NIIT closed 5.95 per cent higher at Rs 492.80 on Wednesday, in contrast to the 0.93 per cent gain on the Sensex.
